Test and Tag That Keeps You Compliant

If you run a workplace, you have a duty to make sure electrical equipment is safe, and in many industries, construction and hire especially, regular test and tag is effectively mandatory. It also matters at claim time: insurers routinely ask for testing records after an electrical incident.

We test and tag across Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan for offices, shops, cafes and restaurants, warehouses, construction sites and rental properties. Every appliance, lead and power board is inspected and tested to AS/NZS 3760, tagged with the date and result, and logged in a register you can hand straight to an auditor or insurer.

What the Standard Actually Requires

AS/NZS 3760 sets how often equipment must be tested, and it varies by environment: construction and demolition sites are every 3 months, factories and workshops every 6 to 12 months, and offices with lower-risk equipment can be several years. Part of our job is setting the right interval for each item so you are compliant without over-testing.

Each test is a visual inspection plus an electrical test with a PAT tester (insulation, earth continuity and polarity as applicable). Items that pass get a dated tag; items that fail are removed from service and reported. You get a register listing every asset, its result and its next-due date, so nothing slips through the cracks.

Who Needs Test and Tag in Queensland?

Queensland does not force every business to test and tag by a single blanket law, but two things make it close to essential:

  • Work health and safety duties. You must ensure electrical equipment is safe, and regular testing is the accepted way to demonstrate that.
  • Construction is explicit. On construction and demolition sites, testing every 3 months is required, and site inductions check for current tags.
  • Insurance. After an electrical fire or shock, insurers ask for testing records. Missing records can complicate a claim.

Offices, cafes, gyms, childcare, workshops, hire businesses and rentals all benefit. We will tell you honestly what your situation requires and set a sensible schedule. Pair it with a compliant switchboard and your electrical safety is covered end to end.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can't find your answer? Call 07 3813 0067 and we will happily talk it through.

How often do I need to test and tag?
It depends on the environment under AS/NZS 3760: every 3 months for construction sites, 6 to 12 months for workshops and factories, and longer for low-risk office equipment. We set the right interval per item and remind you when it is due.
Is test and tag a legal requirement in Queensland?
For construction and demolition work, 3-monthly testing is required. For other workplaces there is no single blanket law, but you have a duty to keep electrical equipment safe, and regular testing is the accepted way to prove it, and what insurers expect.
What do you actually test?
Portable appliances, extension leads, power boards and site tools: a visual inspection plus electrical tests (insulation, earth continuity, polarity as applicable) with a calibrated PAT tester. We can also test your RCD safety switches.
Will you disrupt our workday?
No. We schedule around your trading or site hours and work efficiently. Most offices and shops are done without any real interruption.
Do I get records for audits and insurance?
Yes. Every job comes with an asset register listing each item, its result and its next-due date, ready to hand to an auditor, principal contractor or insurer.
Do you cover multiple sites?
Yes. We handle single offices through to multi-site businesses on a coordinated schedule, with one consolidated register.
Is test and tag the same as PAT testing?
Yes. Test and tag, tag and test, appliance testing and PAT (portable appliance testing) all describe the same thing: inspecting and electrically testing portable equipment to AS/NZS 3760, then tagging each item with the date and result.
Which areas do you test and tag in?
We test and tag right across greater Brisbane, Ipswich and Logan, from single offices and shops to construction sites and multi-site businesses.
