Rewiring cost is the question every owner of an older Brisbane home eventually asks, and the honest answer is that it depends heavily on the house. Two homes the same size can cost very differently. Here is what actually moves the price:
More rooms, more power points, more lighting and more circuits mean more labour and materials. A compact two-bedroom cottage and a big four-bedroom home are very different jobs.
This is the big one in Brisbane. Rewiring is far easier when there is roof and subfloor access to run cables. Classic Queenslanders on stumps with accessible underfloor space are often more straightforward than a slab-on-ground home where walls have to be chased. VJ walls, ornate ceilings and heritage details all take extra care (and time) to work around neatly.

Rewiring is the ideal moment to add what you have always wanted, because the walls and ceilings are already open: extra power points, better lighting, data cabling, provision for air conditioning, solar or an EV charger. Each adds cost but is far cheaper done now than as a separate job later.
